The TAL X2.1 is a refined development of the two-way principle. It performs the artifice of combining the delightful tonal and spatial qualities of a compact two-way loudspeaker with the extended bass and low-frequency dynamics of a large floor-standing unit. As in all TAL models and the TCI 3R the TAL X2.1 is fitted with the further developed super annular high-frequency unit. In the mid / bass range we use a 17 cm pressure-cast aluminium chassis with its ultra-stiff, feather-light aluminium cone and phase plug in a two-way arrangement. A second 17 cm driver with a bone-hard carbon fibre cone is also fitted, but this unit only radiates the low frequencies, working in parallel with the bass / mid-range unit inside the sophisticated transmission line cabinet. 

The net result is enormous dynamic range and precision in the bass range, characteristic of our transmission absorber lines, combined with a very low bottom limit frequency and a superb ability to handle high levels. Massive bi-amping terminals, an extremely low-loss crossover unit with a new kind of low-saturation, low-distortion coil, the cabinet with its complex damping and stiffening measures and a range of perfect surface finishes make this compact floor-standing speaker a genuine high-flyer.
